Pampering Pedicure @ Nailz Haus

Nailz Haus is the leading local nail specialist in the beauty and wellness industry and they strive to beautify the world through care and cosmetics. The efficient beauticians ensure that customers will be treated with the best care.

I had the privilege of going through a leg spa and pedicure treatment over at Nailz Haus and my legs and feet felt so smooth after! Read on as I teach you how to keep your feet smooth and how to deal with cacked heels! Of course I'll be sharing promotional details as well.

Nailz Haus is located at Jurong East Street 21, #02-30 IMM Building Singapore 609601. You can call them at +65 6566 5676 to make a reservation!

The spacious yet homely interior immediately made me feel very welcomed and comforted!

I was greetly warmly by the beauticians and ushered to the feet treatment area to soak my feet in lukewarm water. A Green Effervescent Deo Tablet was thrown in to create this beautiful scented luxurious footbath. It is an ideal remedy for strong perspiration and unpleasant odors. This deodorizing foot bath tablet provides a refreshing and cleaning action for your tired, hot, sore and perspiring feet. Dissolve one tablet in a foot bath, sit back and relax while the active ingredients lipoamino acid and essential oils clean, deodorize and relax these tired feet.

The benefits of this green little tablet are as follows:
- Soothing, relaxing, deodorizing and anti-bacterial
- Calms and comforts feet
- Proven efficacy under dermatological testing
- Effervescent instantly cleanses and Deodorizes sweaty feet

The beautician decided to give me a spa pedicure! A regular pedicure includes a refreshing foot soak, trimming and filing of nails, cuticles tidied, hard skin treated and a relaxing foot massage and polish if required. A spa pedicure includes all of that plus an exfoliation treatment, a luxury food mask or paraffin wax and a heated booty treatment.

Spa pedicure focuses on calming and opening the mind with the inspiring scent of French Lavender.

During this soothing foot ritual, an Organic Sugar scrub with essential Lavender oil gently exfoliates in preparation for a polishing and hydrating masque designed for my feet and legs.

Then,  my beautician applied the Miracle Feet Treatment callus remover with cotton wool to remove the dead skin.

With the cotton wool pressed against my feet, they were wrapped with plastic for 20 minutes before getting filed.

After 20 minutes, nail technician scraped away the callus using a spatula. A gargantuan amount of dirt and dead skin came off the feet with the rigorous scrapping.

Later she filed my feet with a huge feet filer. The next step was to scrub my feet, before ending the treatment with a massage.

Before I continue with the rest of my spa pedicure treatment, I would like to share some information about cracked heels. It's not uncommon to find many people with cracked heels because of a variety of reason, yet many don't know how to heal them!

Cracked heels are a sign of lack of attention to foot care rather than just overexposure or lack of moisturizing. Medically, cracked heels are also known as heel fissures. Fissures are regular linear cut wounds and mostly affect the surface level which comprises of the epidermis. Sometimes it may get deep into the dermis and become painful. Excessive pressure on the feet pads make the feet want to expand sideways. As the skin, surrounding the sides of the feet are dry they crack and cause cracked heels. Appearances of dry cracked heels also indicate zinc and omega-3 fatty acid deficiency.

Though cracks in the skin may arise anywhere in the body the most common is area is the rim of the heel and web of toes, which happen to be the most frequently or constantly used parts of our body. Dry skin or xerosis is one of the most common causes that lead to cracked heels. The other key reason being thick or callus skin around the rim of the heel. Most of the foot problems arise due to neglect and oversight with regard to feet care. Cracked feet, corns and other common feet ailments can be attended to and are easily avoidable.

Cracked heels are not a harmful in anyway except when the fissures or cracks are deep, and tend to become painful and the skin begins to bleed. This could lead to infection and is an avoidable situation mostly for those already suffering from chronic ailments such as diabetes or lowering immune system due to age or illness which may retard the treatment of cracked heels.

Cracked heels are a common occurrence for senior citizens or people who are constantly on their feet thus exerting pressure on the feet pad. In addition to this, sebum production decreases with age and so seniors tend to suffer from dry and cracked heels. Excessively dry skin, peeling skin, and dry and cracked skin on the heels are some of the most common skin problems that seniors face. Dry skin on the heels is often a recurrent problem. It can affect either both the heels or one of the heel. But most commonly, cracked heels affect both the feet.

Here is a compilation of the most common causes that lead to cracked heels:
• Naturally dry skin or thick dry skin (callus) around the heel that is more likely to crack is often due to excessive feet activity.
• Prolonged standing at work or home. Hard floors may also cause cracks in the feet.
• Being overweight may increase the pressure on the normal fat pad under the heel, causing it to expand sideways and if the skin lacks flexibility the pressure on the feet lead to cracked heels.
• Back-open sandals or shoes allow the fat under the heel to expand sideways and increases the possibility of cracks on the heels.
• Disease and Disorders-Athlete’s foot, Psoriasis, Eczema, Thyroid disease, Diabetes and some other skin conditions may also cause cracked heels.
• Continuous exposure to water- Water, especially running water, can rob the skin of its natural oils and this can leave the skin dry and rough. Standing for prolonged periods in a damp area such as a bathroom can cause dry and cracked heels.

Now that we know what causes cracked heels, how do we go about healing them? I'm pleased to tell you that with proper treatments, your cracked heels can heal in no time at all! Nailz Haus provide spa pedicure treatments specially targeted at healing cracked heels!

I don't have cracked heels myself (have taken pretty good care of my feet so far yay) but the spa pedicure really helped my clean and moisturize my feet and legs. It'll definitely be of a much bigger help for cracked heels!

Finally, my aroma-therapeutic journey comes to a blissful closure with a calming massage using Organic Ginger lotion to keep me grounded and balanced.

A paraffin wax "dip" or "bath" is a soothing treatment in which the feet are submerged in a warm mixture of paraffin, a petroleum-based wax, and mineral oil. This warming treatment soothes aching joints and improves circulation, and the combination of oil and wax softens rough skin. Massage therapists can use paraffin dips to relieve joint stiffness, while spas and salons often include them before pedicures.

The wax, solid at room temperature, is heated to between 123 and 125 degrees in a foot bath. The feet are then submerged, either one at a time or together. After a few seconds, my feet are removed from the bath and the wax hardens slightly when it hits room temperature air. My feet are dipped three to six more times to form a thick layer of wax, and then allowed to dry for 10 to 15 minutes. The wax is then peeled or rubbed away and the used wax is discarded.

Tada~~ my super clean soles without dead skin after the wax is removed! The wax traps heat near the skin, which penetrates to stiff and aching joints. This warmth also improves circulation to the feet. The wax and mineral oil softens rough skin, making it an ideal preliminary to a pedicure or a relaxing treatment for those who work on their feet for long periods. It is also used as a therapeutic treatment for arthritis or muscular pain.

Just a finishing touch, I got a pretty design decorated on my toes!
