If you haven't heard, Flavour Flings is the cafe behind the start of the famous salted egg yolk croissant!! Using many textured materials; Pebbles, Gravels, Wood, Bricks and Grass Patches. Flavour Flings brings out a pretty Zen and Natural cafe experience to its guests. Muslim friends will also be delighted to know that Flavour Flings is a halal-certified cafe!
Tried my first salted egg yolk croissant here at Flavour Flings alongside the new dishes in their menu; and it was such a satisfying meal!
Flavour Flings spots a cozy and spacious interior in a quaint corner of the Hougang neighbourhood, and is located at 121 Hougang Avenue 1 #01-1348.
I love the cozy and spacious ambience indoors! While dining in an Eco setup, Chef Shawn, an Alumni of The Culinary Institute of America, Singapore, buzzes around the kitchen, presenting Modern American and French All Day Breakfast and Brunch delights. You will be surprise to see many American and French classics, and also some twists around many flavours, ingredients and presentation.
Salted Egg Yolk Croissant, $7.50
It's no surprise how this was a total sell-out within the first few days of its launch! Meticulously prepared, the croissant was cripsy and the salted egg yolk sauce was so flavourful. There was so much of it too (I still don't know how can so much sauce fit in one croissant) and it really makes for a good insta-worthy shot while you delight your tastebuds at the same time.
Maybe it's my love of pastries and eggs, I found this really to my liking and I wouldn't mind coming back for more more and more.
The Supreme 2 Burger, $24.90
Charcoal Boule, Emmenta Cheese, Mayonnaise, House Beef Patty, 15-min Grilled Honey Chicken Thigh, Pancake-Battered Onion Rings, Sweet Curry Mayo, Salad Greens, Cherry Tomatoes served with Cajun Fries. Meat lovers rejoice! Both the beef and chicken meat were marinated well, and are tender and juicy. The fries were also relatively well-seasoned. The grilled honey chicken is my favourite and it's really a meat feast fit for a king.
Butternut Risotto, $15.90
Calrose Rice, Butternut Squash, Shimeiji Mushrooms, Honey Glazed Crouton, Parmasen Cheese, Spring Onions. The first thing that came to my mind when I tasted this was: SWEET PUMPKIN. Hahaha. I guess that's because I just had salted egg yolk so this tasted sweet! A well-prepared dish, the aroma from this dish was deliciously appetizing. Overall dish was light as well, leaving your stomach feeling satisfied but not overly bloated.
Cute little Gudetama to oversee our meal. With such delicious-looking dishes, a flatlay shot is a must. Spot me in Sophie's shades?
Ice Cream Croissant-Wich, $8.90
With Cranberry Sorbet Ice Cream and Black Sesame Ice Cream, it's the same well-prepared croissant with sorbet ice creams! Really refreshing for the all-year-summer weather in Singapore. The black sesame ice cream was very flavourful while the cranberry sorbet was a little more on the sweet side. However for creamy ice cream lovers, I personally fell that opting for non-sorbet ice-creams will go better with the croissant.
What a cute wall decoration! I'm enjoying my dessert with an imaginary Ken. Hahaha. I would really recommend Flavour Flings as a place for your next date because they serve up great food alongside a really lovely and comfortable environment. Not to mention their cafe has many spots for pretty photos; snap away!
Thank you for the fun company Sophie and Weikai! Thank you Flavour Flings for having us over, we really enjoyed the meal and the ambience!
